Performance Improvement Process
Normally, the process for contracting the specific services is as follows:
1) Needs Assessment workshop, survey, interviews, etc.
2) Agreement on how we will gauge success of training / contracting
3) Curriculum Design, Client Sign-off, and Preparation of Materials
4) Manager's orientation and Kickoff Meeting for Participants
5) Conduct the Training with interim evaluations / trainer feedback
6) Follow up assignments, meetings or events
7) Evaluation and Measurement, and Recommendations
Eight Factors in Successful Training Interventions
Process-Driven, not Event-Driven
Partnership -- unless
participants feel this training is reinforced by managers and supervisors back
on the job, the effort loses ROI potential. This is absolutely KEY in
success.
Relevance -- unless there is 90+% relevance to your unique business, you will lose them
Applicability/Practical -- unless it is easily applicable practical to use, changing habits and behavior is minimized
Accountability -- unless one is held accountable in some way to act on their good intentions to use the new skill or information, they simply won't
Flexibility -- unless the facilitator is extremely flexible by being attuned to the group, you will miss an opportunity.
Professionalism -- you can't define it, but when you see and experience it, you know it. If you can't be polished and professional, don't enter the contest.
Credible -- unless the trainer uses the techniques and principles being taught, mastered them successfully, he/she has not earned the right to teach others how to do so
Focus on Results - too many trainers focus on content and lecture, often struggling just to hold people's attention. My focus is on behavioral change and skill development. Thus, the interaction is lively and dynamic, and the participant is held accountable to commit to one behavioral change or skill development at the conclusion of each seminar.
